What we do | Sanctuary supported living is a supported accommodation service for homeless young people, single adults and families, all with a variety of complex needs. Clients can stay with the service for a maximum of two years, but workers help and support clients to be able to live independently and aim to find them a permanent place to live within six months. |
What we accept |
We are in need of toiletries because many of the clients cannot afford to buy toiletries due to being on benefits or not being able to budget properly to afford essential items such as shampoo and shower gel.
The service regularly gets food donations, and because we have family accommodation we do get donations of baby supplies, however it is also important to provide toiletries for the young people and adults within the service.
As well as essential items, it would also be good to receive donations of items that are viewed as luxury such as face masks and nail varnish, because these items can be used for client involvement activities that the workers plan, carry out and evaluate. These activities are beneficial for clients as doing different things and interacting positively with others helps their emotional well-being a great deal.
Furthermore, the student social workers currently on placement with Sanctuary are rebooting a project where they are creating shoe boxes full of essential items for new clients coming into the service. Many of the individuals who move into supported accommodation don't have anything with them in terms of food or toiletries, so this project will rovide them with a few of these items to help them in their first few weeks at the service. In order to carry out this project successfully we need donations of essential toiletries.
We are accepting donations of face masks as well as toiletries due to the current need for these because of Covid-19. Many of the clients in our service can't afford to buy masks themselves therefore it would be beneficial to have them donated so that the clients can still go out into society safely.
