What we do | Our local Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church in partnership with Greggs Bakery give food to homeless people where they are on the streets of Hounslow, Richmond and Twickenham High Streets, on a Saturday; and with other branches of our SDA church we do a soup kitchen at Waterloo station on Sundays. Our Hanworth (Sandwich Kitchen Plus ministry)/ Community Larder + Ministry also gives toiletries, clothing, and sometimes sleeping bags to them, and other vulnerable people in need, and whatever else we can to help alleviate their plight. We started this ministry in 2018, when my daughter then aged 22, was appalled to see other young people her age sleeping in phone boxes outside her work in Twickenham. Since then, with Greggs support and from members of our church we distribute help to our homeless people, which sadly their needs are increasing as more people become homeless. Since the pandemic we have now included providing a Community Larder + to local people, and supported asylum seekers and refugees families. |
