|What we do||Safestop is a supported accommodation project in Manchester for young people aged 16-21 who are at risk of homelessness. Many of our referrals come from young people who have experienced relationship breakdown, domestic violence, becoming homeless as a result of low income and benefit delays, refugees and asylum seekers, and vulnerable young people who may struggle to live independently. We support young people to develop their independent living skills, maintain positive health and wellbeing, access all benefits they are entitled to and access to education and employment. We will work with young people to move them onto safe and secure accommodation.|
|What we accept||
We provide residents with a toiletry pack when they first move in, however we rely on donations from the local community for this, which currently tend to be quite infrequent. This includes the basics, such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant and soap. We also like to provide residents with good quality toiletries and self-care items as part of our incentives scheme, which rewards young people for engaging in support and is an important part of encouraging and nurturing positive progress. Young people feed back to us that they really enjoy receiving luxuries that they would otherwise be unable to afford, such as bath/gift sets, make-up, aftershave/perfume. We are a mixed gender project so would like to receive products for both males and females.
