| How to donate | Our location is a hotel that houses asylum seekers; donations can be posted to or left at the hotel any time. We have a store room in Room 22 of the hotel and the staff are aware of our charity (Care4Calais) and happy to help. If you would like to drop off with us in person, the best times are between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesdays weekly. We are also happy to collect from you if address and times are provided. |

| What we do | We are the Vauxhall/Elephant branch of Care4Calais, a charity that supports asylum seekers in the UK. We support hundreds of vulnerable people, including families and young children, who are fleeing conflict, trauma, political unrest and persecution in their home countries and trying to build a better life for themselves and their children in the UK. Our volunteers work flexibly to provide everything from clothes and toiletries, education support and English lessons, help navigating the asylum system and simply providing a friendly face and a chat. Asylum seekers are given only £9 a week to live off by the Home Office; thus, any donations are greatly welcomed by us and them, to make the intensely stressful period of waiting for an asylum decision while navigating a new country and often hostile environment more bearable. |
| What we accept |
We are particularly in need of basic hygiene items like body wash, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body spray/deodorant and facewash, as well as feminine hygiene products like tampons and sanitary pads. Makeup and perfumes would also be gratefully received.
We have a number of families with babies and young children, so items like nappies or baby shampoo are also very welcome.
