Founded in 2014 by Karen Harvey MBE, Toiletries Amnesty is an award-winning NGO working to end hygiene poverty and divert beauty industry waste.

Supporting over 1500 locations around the world, Toiletries Amnesty annually provides access to toiletries and hygiene products for more than 10 million people.

Toiletries Amnesty provides free support to homeless shelters/hostels, women’s refuges, mental health services, end of life care hospices, food banks, NHS Trust services, refugee services, LGBTQ+ groups, prison services, children’s centres, young people’s services, schools, colleges, community groups, and other organisations around the world.

As the first organisation in the UK to tackle hygiene poverty we set out to connect communities in a positive and transparent way. Ours is still the only public directory that allows everyone to see exactly where their donations are making an impact. It’s good to share!

As a social, ethical and environmental organisation, our mission is to help people out of hygiene poverty, whilst reducing waste wherever possible. It’s not just about supporting local communities and forming more understanding relationships in society, it’s about demonstrating that a small act can have a huge and positive effect on us all, and on the environment.

We operate as a structured redistribution partner for the circular economy, creating positive and practical solutions for beauty industry waste and sustainability goals, and connecting communities and consumers who want to see a change for good.

We’re proud to have been recognised for our work, from being listed on the Natwest SE100 Index as one of the UK’s leading social enterprises, and receiving a Points of Light Award from the UK Government for inspirational service, to being awarded an MBE and listed on the Future Icons Power People list alongside the mighty David Attenborough (and Feargal Sharkey, and the King!)

Small actions make big changes. Stop wasting, start sharing.

Can you help keep the Toiletries Amnesty directory free to use?

We don’t charge organisations to list on our directory – toiletries and hygiene products are an essential daily need and we aim to provide free access to toiletries to as many people as we can.

Toiletries Amnesty is self-funded. We don’t receive any government funding or subsidies, but continue to support millions of people every year.

Can you help us continue this vital work?

Your contribution will make a huge difference, please donate if you can.
