What we do | Our charity was founded in 2006 and aims to be a community development non-profit organization that offers food and basic necessities to those in need amongst our local community. We offer contributions to all members of society and we offer free hot drinks and sandwich between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, regardless of race, gender, religion and ability, as this improves focus areas of our community and inspires compassion and love on a larger scale. Our motivation is derived from the fact that more than a quarter of a million people are homeless in England (BBC). The figures show homelessness hotspots outside London, with high rates in Birmingham, Brighton and Luton. To continue with our organisational mission of reaching out to those needing support the most; and practicing “charity begins at home”, we started food distribution drive in Birmingham. We give out food parcels every Friday 2pm to 4pm and we also offer in house laundry service, barbing services to our service users. We established the Arabica café in 2018 to help provide support to all individuals who are welcome, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, religion or disability, as Feedo Needo is a multi-faceted charity created with the purpose of serving the wider community. Since establishing Arabica cafe, we have seen a larger number of visitors at our doors as many have expressed that they feel more appreciated and comfortable having a space to interact with others in and receive any support they may require. The evolution of the cafe has meant we have seen more visitors than ever before from wider localities in and around Birmingham, a notion we pride ourselves in- being able to offer our services to those who travel from afar to experience the ambiance and provisions at Arabica cafe. Arabica café is where the heart of our charity lies with the help of our friendly staff, we are able to support those most in need in the most dignified way possible. It is crucial to feed our nation of 1.5 million who go hungry every day; however, our mission is to achieve this goal by offering our full support in connecting those who may not have the readily available resources to secure employment, higher educational needs, mental health information, childcare information, sign posting to housing opportunities and many more opportunities which will provide them with long term care. The warm and relaxed environment of Arabica café offers all of the above as well as hot food drinks to secure daily nourishment as effortlessly as possible, as 280,000 people roam our streets without warm food and shelter. Hence, we have made it our mission to be one of the few food banks who also offer a café service providing hot meals on a regular basis from our long-standing partners at Greggs, Aldi, Lidi, Fare share and Costco who help bring us one step closer in reaching our goal of ending hunger and nationwide child poverty. |
